Bulk excavation under way on an SMJ Brady groundworks package

What we do

Civil Engineering & Groundworks

Groundworks set the programme for everything that follows, so they are worth getting right. We take the package end to end — from the first dig through to the finished surface — using our own plant and time-served operatives.

What we offer

One contractor from dig to finished level

Splitting groundworks between trades is where programmes slip. We hold the whole package — excavation, drainage, foundations, concrete and surfacing — so there is one set of levels, one method statement and one number to ring. We have worked this way across the East Midlands for civil contractors, housing developers, builders and local authorities.

  • Bulk Excavation & Remediation

Detailed and bulk excavation, remediation and muck-away, with pipe laying carried out as the dig progresses.

  • Foundations

For a reliable foundation, concrete is usually the best choice — strong, long-lived, dimensionally stable and not vulnerable to rot or insect damage.

  • Reinforced Concrete Structures

Reinforced slabs, bases, retaining structures and concrete roads, set out and poured to specification.

  • Drainage & Sewers

Gas, water, sewer, storm and rising mains, including all electro and butt fusion work. Collapsed runs are excavated and replaced with new sections of pipe. Every operative holds the relevant certificates.

  • Surfacing Works

Concrete edging, paved paths, asphaltic concrete works and concrete sub-bases — we can deliver on all items.

  • Kerbing & Edging Works

Extensive experience across slipform kerbing, kerb and channel, concrete footpaths and shared pathways, slipform concrete barrier walls, concrete roads and concrete drains.

On site: civil engineering & groundworks

  • Precast manhole chamber with connected drainage runs
  • Sectioned ground showing newly laid drainage pipe and its bedding
  • Power-floated reinforced concrete slab ready for the following trade
  • Service ducting installed and bedded in an open trench before backfill
